Pattern Welded Gyuto

$1,375.00

Description

Available for purchase is this one of a kind hand made piece of cutlery. The pattern welded gyuto is a medium sized knife that excels at various tasks in the kitchen, from slicing protein to chopping veggies. The thinly ground convex geometry aids in food release and provides less resistance while slicing through whatever is on your cutting board. The name of the knife comes from the technique used to create the blade. This particular piece of steel is the first of its kind for me and was constructed from 1084 high carbon steel and 15n20 high carbon steel. These two steels were stacked in alternating fashion and forge welded together, cut, re-stacked, welded, and manipulated several times over to achieve the pattern you can see in the blade.

The luxurious African Blackwood handle is made in the wa style and is heirloom fit to a fire blackened steel bolster and held in place using a marine grade epoxy as well as a domed nickel-silver retention pin, making this a true heirloom piece.
