Honyaki mukimono

By admin on December 23, 2022December 23, 2022

This was a super satisfying project. It was the first time I’ve ever had the opportunity to make a mukimono knife and the first time incorporating a live edge into the handle design.

A mukimono knife is a traditional single bevel Japanese knife used in making decorative garnishes as well as other small prep work. It’s thin blade and flat cutting edge makes it ideal for making fine work and artistic garnishes.

This knife features a live edge wa handle made from stabilized amboyna burl, an heirloom fit fire blackened steel bolster, and a domed nickel-silver pin.
